Little Phungpuinus - no less - and he forced them to eat hot ash!Dexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04009241956727062352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950931197043565670.post-20592093955104945102009-03-02T19:59:00.000+05:302009-03-02T19:59:00.000+05:30Thank you for the feedback. This story comes from Dr Khiangte's large collection of Mizo folklore and cultural history so perhaps it shouldn't be read in isolation to really get into all the things you feel are missing here.Zualteii Poontehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03894762926515124116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950931197043565670.post-27301858259191905972009-02-24T03:52:00.000+05:302009-02-24T03:52:00.000+05:30Nice translation.. Not that I'm much of an expert in english, but I find some details missing in the story, although I quite can't place it..<BR/>For example: "He erected a swing on his farm and pretended to leave for home.." There is no indication as to why the Phung wanted to swing on it.. And how that would qualify as a trap for spirits? I think a little background on Mizo traditions/culture would've been inserted for better understanding.. The story is a little vague for non-mizos and may be interpreted as illogical.. Its always a challenge to interpret folklore to other languages without loss of meaning and content..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950931197043565670.post-60891555673239304842009-02-22T12:51:00.000+05:302009-02-22T12:51:00.000+05:30Yes, what's interesting about the Sekibuhchhuak is...Yes, what's interesting about the Sekibuhchhuak is its similarity to the Cornucopia of Greek mythology. Even more interesting is that almost every culture has a myth about a Horn of Plenty which can spill out an unending supply of good food :)Zualteii Poontehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03894762926515124116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8950931197043565670.post-82008881514086286252009-02-21T21:25:00.000+05:302009-02-21T21:25:00.000+05:30Nice read !
